Well, the ice made it through the heat wave of the past week. But not the landings. They are just awful! And we are ready to freeze this margarita mess up again so getting on the ice isn’t so laborious. I’m guessing by Monday or Tuesday the accesses should be less water logged. Once you get on the ice and drilling holes, it is very noticeable how soft and spongy the ice got today. Ice thickness of 4” is the minimum found today, down from 6” over the last week. Needless to say, the warm-up put a dent in the ice conditions. The forecast from here on out is looking favorable to finish off the tail end of this hardwater season. Did it ever even begin? I miss winter!! …
There are so many pictures to share with a day of adventure on Little Bay de Noc. But this one, of an artistic looking ice heave cropping upward, looks pretty cool shimmering in my tail lights.
Increasing your odds,
